Board Nominations

Call for Volunteers 2018

Get ready to take your Health Information career to the next level!!

NvHIMA is seeking dedicated professionals for the 2018-2019 Board of Directors.

This is a wonderful opportunity to mentor, network, develop public speaking skills and become a valuable asset to your state association.

Testimonials from current officers:

Tamara Walcott, MS, RHIA, CHPS – Director     “For me, some benefits of serving on the NvHIMA Board include meeting new people in my chosen profession and networking; ability to help people as they work to obtain a degree or certification; assisting new incoming board members, supporting current board members; and, attending the national events to learn/network as a member of the NvHIMA board has been invaluable to me.  I have grown as a person as well as a HIM professional. Serving as an officer has helped me to understand the workings of not only an organization on the local level, but also on the national level as well”.

Lorraine Brown, MSPH, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P – Treasurer   “Serving as an officer for NvHIMA has been a rewarding experience.  I have been able to grow personally and professionally.  Serving has allowed me to meet wonderful professionals who are supportive of their colleagues and dedicated to the profession.  The networking opportunities are invaluable.  In addition to the networking opportunities and personal/professional growth, the experience that I have gained will benefit me in the future”.

Becky Bailey, MBA, CCS, CPC, CHTS-R – President   “I got involved because someone I knew and respected asked me to and my life has been filled with great experiences since then.  I have learned a lot and have made some incredible friendships through all of my volunteering.  I started out on the local board, and now serve on the state board and am volunteering on the convention committee for AHIMA.  I love how I am being enriched through all of this.  My life has drastically changed because of the networking and relationship building that NvHIMA has afforded me.  The time commitment is not as strenuous as one would think and I get so much more from this than I can possibly give! I hope you will join us on this journey as we move our State CSA forward!”

Linda Howard, CCS – Past President and Convention Chair   “I would like to encourage all members to seriously consider running for an office with the NvHIMA.  I have been active at the local CSA, NNvHIMA and at the State level.  When you choose to run for an office, you will be able to make a real difference in our profession as Health Information Professionals.  Our profession is changing more now than any time in the last 20 years.  You will be able to assist in shaping your future.

Employers respect the AHIMA/NvHIMA associations and those certified representatives.  When an employer sees your board activity, they will know that you are a respected member among your peers.

Please review the job descriptions on the NvHIMA website and consider volunteering.  We are looking forward to meeting you!”
