CEU: 3.0 – Clinical Data Management
Heather Sutton, MD, MEd, CPC, CCS, CDIP, CIRCC
After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the University of Nevada, Reno, I first began my career as a high school science teacher in Fernley, NV, during which I earned a Master’s degree in Education. It was during these years teaching the subjects that I was most passionate about that I made the decision to pursue a career in medicine. I attended medical school at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY and earned my Medical Degree in 2011, after which I entered a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Augusta University in Augusta, GA. During residency my role in medicine continued to be shaped and in my 3rd year I decided to pursue a different avenue and entered the field of medical coding. Since that time, I have become certified with a CPC, CCS, CDIP, and CIRCC, and I am now the Supervisor of Coding University Programs at Renown Health. It is in my capacity as a medical coder that I feel that I can apply my education to its maximum potential doing the things I love most: constantly learning new things every day in a field that is challenging and growing in exciting ways!
Tamra Wood, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P

Tami is a Corporate Education Program Auditor with Baylor Scott and White Health. She has been with BSWH for almost 3 years. Tami graduated from the College of Southern Nevada in 1999 with an A.A.S. in Health Information Technologies. That year she sat for and received her RHIT. In 2002 she received her CCS credential, and 2004 the CCS-P outpatient credential. With the goal of being the best Day Surgery coder she could be, for the next 12 years she focused on doing that. In 2011 with the talk about ICD 10 finally being implemented, Tami received her AHIMA Approved ICD 10 CM/PCS Trainer and set off on the ICD 10 journey. Her love for day surgery coding has proved invaluable for the ICD 10 PCS learning curve, this and teaching has become a passion. Tami is going back to school to get her RHIA from WGU.
